It is good that you are doing these tests, Mikael. Do remember, please, that tests are not meant to show any brand of lens to be absolutely superior. In general, people just explore the capabilities of their kit.

Confirms what I've always believed.
Russian glass might be built a little roughly, but they perform well against the best of Japanese and German glass.

A rigorous test would have had the same camera body used with all the different lenses.
I use two Jupiters, and Industar and a Steinheil. I am as content with these as I was with the Leica and Canon lenses I had in the past. Never felt the need for side-by-side tests. Lenses reveal their characteristics in the course of everyday work, and that is for me enough to choose one for a particular shot.

Thanks for showing us these. I too like "testing" my kit. It has in the past shown some lenses to be quite poor, whilst others of the the same make may be good.
I found that an isolated shot of a scene didn't tell me if a lens was very good, I can only say that I like the results. Comparision tests between lenses can show a great deal, only to give slightly differing results on another day....

I found the J3 on my Kiev to be excellent for portraits and people generally, and the J8 is the best 'all-round' lens. The J9 is superb and I use it often on the Kiev rangefinders, Fed/Zorki, Kiev SLR (10&15) and Start/Zenit/ Kristall.
I have always been impressed by soviet glass, it has compared favourably with my Takumar and Contax T* lenses in many situations. The Industar lenses on my Moskow cameras are extemely good.
