does anyone have any experience of rewind gaming on ebay? i have seen that he/she is selling lense spanners,in the uk.i have a tamron sp 17mm which is filtered 81b 80b and y2, but it suffers the dreaded fungus. i whould like to try cleaning it,i have a hunch its only in the 1st element, but nothing ventured nothing gained i just want to know if anyone has bought the tool as it seems quite cheap thanks ron

Don't have any experience with rewind game but have the same tool(s) from the indian ebay seller anuuj. Tools are a bit crude but usable. You can always grind them to reach a better fit.
The adjustable spanner wrench he sells is a bit too big to my liking.

I think I might have that one. It does okay on lenses, but the shafts are too thick to let me open the RF adjust on my Canon 7s. The bits fit in the holes fine, but I can't bring them close enough together :bang:

The crude ones work, but you may have to do a bit of work wtih a file.

My issue with the crude ones is that they tend to come loose at some critical moment. I don't need anything better for LF retaining rings and similar things where a slip won't scratch the glass or any decorative bezel/barrel, but for lens innards, good spanners do reduce the risk of damage quite considerably.

Screw them down tight with a dot of thread locker in the threads. They won't come loose. My only problem is that they have some play in them and it is difficult to get them set for the right distance between tips. They are a godsend when doing something like a Canonet, where the tips need to be drastically filed and modified -- you don't want to do that with an expensive spanner.

I bought one from him. It needed to have the screw slot filed out a bit to allow the two halfs to fit together properly and I filed the tips to make them narrower. It now works fine- which it didn't when I got it.

And no doubt much cheaper than Micro-Tools as well!
Their quality seems pretty good, but if you are in Europe for the price they charge for delivery you'd expect hand-delivery by a bevy of topless beauty queens, or perhaps a personal blessing from the Pope if nudity isn't your scene. I really don't know how they justify it.

I bought this lens spanner:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Spanner-Wrench-...ns_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET?hash=item53de70340f
from attila931 after becoming tired of my indian one, everlastingly loose. I'm very happy with it, it can be tightened so it will not slip in the worst moment and you can change from pointed to slotted ends (which btw are much thiner than in the indian spanner). And of course is much cheaper than micro tools spanner!

That looks pretty cool, but it also looks way short. Not really suitable for working on folders. You'd need something that's way longer than that or something small enough to get down inside a bellows when it is at least partially extended -- otherwise you can tear up the silk liner.

Well, I got muddled for a minute, and thought this was a family forum.
I wonder if Sanders McNew has had a lens spanner delivered lately?
