Question (bump): can a Voigtländer Nokton in Prominent mount be converted to Leica screw mount?

No idea on that one other than getting a Prominent-Contax adapter and a Contax-Leica adapter. The first adapter can sometimes be bought for $150, while the second adapter sells for $225.

I have seen one or two hacked Noktons and Ultrons on eBay, but have no idea how they were put together, or where they were from. I have mounted a Nokton to a Canon P using two adapters as raid mentioned, and surprisingly it worked just fine, even at close focus

In addition to what raid & dexdog wrote, Voigtlander themselves made LTM & Contax RF mount versions of the Nokton. Both versions are relatively expensive due to their rarity. The LTM versions show up on eBay fairly often, but I've only seen 1 of the Contax RF versions being sold in the past 4 or 5 years.

I have many times thought about getting a Prominent-Contax adapter, and one day, I will do it. The lens is worth this effort.

The Voigtlander lens is closer in focal length to a Leica/Canon than it is to the Contax. I have an adapter, and use it on the Nikon. The Nokton has a long back-focus, and would convert to aLTM with a suitable mount. The Canon 50/1.8 might work for a hack.

I do not think the Canon optics will work in the Voigtlander- not enough clearance for the shutter mechanism.

Sloppy, but they do work. Now what I need to find is someone willing & able to convert a LTM, Contax RF, or Nikon S mount 35 or 28 to Foton mount . . .

I had my eye on a Voigltänder Prominent with Nokton 50mm f1.5 in almost mint condition, but did not put in a bid. No one did, it could have been mine for EUR 249.00:bang::bang:

I think I have proved that the Canon f2.8 50 is not suitable for the Opton f1.5. The optic units are within a few mm of the same length, but the rear retaining screw of the Opton is the same OD as the Canon RF coupling. Now, if i was a better machinist, i could taper turn the Canon mount, tap it for the opton and possibly get a result, but I would lose the non-rotating optic module for sure.
I'll bet you are better at this than me 😉

The Opton 50/1.5 will fit in the close-up helical for the collapsible Leitz lenses that I used for the Helios-103.
