Hello dear friends! Anyone close to Royal Air Force Leitz production batch? I know that it was war era appeal to make people sell their cameras to the government... So it was engraved as RAF or Arrow on bodies and lenses.
What do you think about this? And please add solution where to find literature.

Also, please, comment this another one, really can not find any solution or archive traces but think (honestly dream) to buy and add to collection:

Thank you!

See http://www.leica-historica.de/W_Haven_Cane.pdf (Wilhelmshaven)

RAF: Dunno. Yes, I've seen the appeals to sell Leicas, etc., to the government but I've never seen an engraved lens. Bodies, yes, but not lenses: see http://www.dvdtechcameras.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12

Cheers,

R.

THANK YOU! Is it possible that somewhere exists Elmar with serial 546017 with W.Haven engraving and not discribed in your link? It says there are only:
582598 Elmar 50 20.06.42 Meyer Wilhelmshaven
582711 Elmar 50 20.06.42 Meyer Wilhelmshaven
582719 Elmar 50 20.06.42 Meyer Wilhelmshaven
582748 Elmar 50 20.06.42 Meyer Wilhelmshaven
582763 Elmar 50 20.06.42 Meyer Wilhelmshaven

Possible or not?)))) ...we always believe in miracle...

Look, guys, I really have dilemma: to buy or not to buy...))) And no time to think, help me! Tomorrow morning or never... According to this link it have to be original known series inside of military order to Vienna. Serial number is #546017. Price is not too high but for sure is not so quiet to me (a bit less then thousand bucks). Looks like lottery with good Bingo or piece of jackass for tomorrow's breakfast.

More than possible, but far from certain. There are so unbelievably many variations in Leicas, some retrofitted, some legitimate, some fake, that it would take a brave man to authenticate it without close examination and lots of research. My guess -- and no more than a guess -- is that it probably is real, especially if it is being sold at a realistic price. Fakes are normally more ornate and oddly priced: well above "normal" (non-engraved) prices but rather below well-authenticated pieces.

Edit: given your comments on prices, and my last para above, I now swing back more in favour of fake...

Cheers,

R.

Sorry the RAF and the Kreigsmarine lens are both fakes, just normal lenses someone tried to make a buck on, sadly this is happening more each day.

There's even a 1946 Leica IIIC being sold on evilbay that is a 100% fake Luftwaffen camera, I mean look the war was OVER in May 1945, people now with engravers are just stupid!

Thank you, Tom, I was waiting for your last word, so pity)))

But! RAF couldn't be real fake ))) Nobody saw genuine ))) We must call it "active imagination"...
