Lenswork Magazine Offer

Just FYI - I read Lenswork and enjoy it very much. Apparently, they are putting out a mixed-media CD to include larger photographs, text, audio, etc. They're doing the 'charter subscriber' thing now, ends June 30. So I'm passing this info along. The usual disclaimers apply - I am not associated with Lenswork, get nothing from plugging it here, etc. Just FYI.

Do you know if this is the same rag that used to be in Syracuse, NY? When I went to grad school there in the 80s, they had a community darkroom that I used sometimes. It was a great bunch of photogs.

It is honcho'd by Brooks Jensen. I regret to say that although he has waxed biographical in past issues, and I read it with interest at the time, I do not now recall his history or that of the magazine. It's a great mag, though. I subscribe to the print version. Gives me inspiration.

If the multimedia is anything like the printed version itwill be wort the money spent, the mag has the most incredible looking photos.

Ive taken a look at it when I see it here in Borders and think its a fantastic mago. But no way would I spend 30 bucks to buy it. But the deal they have atm makes it so much cheaper that I might subscribe to it 🙂 Anyone in Oz subscribed to it?

Well just getting the printed version of the mag is very expensive too. They had a deal last November/December where you got a year of the mag (print version only) for either $19 or $29, I forget which, and that's what I have right now. Some of the work is really amazing, and the current edition has a wonderful portfolio from Don Normark from a project he did as a student in Chavez Ravine. Just that is worth the subscription, IMHO.

That's how I found out about the reduced-rate subscription offer - right here on RFF, someone posted a heads up about it and I grabbed that bad boy up. I had been buying on the stands.

Perhaps then a new black and white photography will also help you and other photographers with inspiration.

I'm with you. If Brooks had joined RFF just to promote his mag, that would be different. We, as photographers, were talking about something WE enjoyed reading, not making $$$ from it.
