he's a good photographer who knows that sharpness isn't the be-all-end-all. he was still very impressed.

Lol. I did the same to my cousin. She was ready to buy either the Nikon d7100 or Fuji xe1 before I loaned her the dp2m
.

He's funny i.e. entertainingly smart (i kept reading other entries, loved the 'About Me') and non-nonsense in his findings. Would love to see how he handles Sigma Dp in motorcycle shooting (I rarely shoot mine at anything in serious motion, but it has handled the little I've shot just fine). Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the part about the resolution/sharpness, but what about the color (or the tonality in black and white)? I just love the color and the monochrome, and it is more often more important to the way I view photos than resolution/sharpness.

The best camera is one that still works!
Not surprising IMO. My DPMs make my D700 look very average if you only consider IQ.
AF performance and ISO range are a very different story ... but we already knew that!

thanks for the kind words rhl, my brother appreciated them.
i only lent him the dp2m for a short time so his short blurb wasn't meant to be a comprehensive review. just an observation on the most talked about aspects of the merrills, the resolution and sharpness. i wasn't aware that the new pentax doesn't have an AA filter, which (to me) made for a particularly interesting comparo of sharpness and resolution.

I started with a DP2m last spring and have never looked back. NOTHING I have seem approaches the quality of Foveon X3 images. I sold a lot of gear to my buy more Sigma cameras and lenses. If I am in a hurry, I might shoot with something else, a Canon 5D Mkii or a Fuji X-Pro1. But the vast majority of my images are now done with Sigmas.
