Thanks for posting as I was going to if no one else did... Oh, and thank you for being gracious by not including the typical and disrespectful "RIP" notice. Your thread title is kind and much more respectful of one passing.
I consider Leonard a friend, though we never met or exchanged discussions. He spoke to me with his words, especially in his later years. He "spoke" to me in many ways and I spent many days and nights over the last eight years looking for answers and solace. He gave a little of each to me.

I was lucky enough to see him in Chicago on his last tour a few years ago, and have been enjoying his new album for the last week. A true artist and a real inspiration, the "music to cut your wrists to" appellation always made me chuckle. You will be missed, old man...
I'm sorry to say I never saw him perform. He did play locally several years ago, and I've since regretted not attending that concert. But I understand, from all I have read, as well as from a mutual friend who knew him well, that, in addition to being an exceptional songwriter and poet, he was also a very decent person.
