Lessons Learned - 8 3/8" Tessar

Through the fine efforts of Greyhoundman, I've got the old B&L Zeiss Tessar mounted and have run a few sheets of FP4+ behind it. Here's a couple to illustrate a few ... "Lessons Learned" :bang: :bang: :bang:

1) Keep a real good eye on where the Sun is. Gotta find the right series VI or VII adaptor for a hood with this old gal.

2) 100 ASA black and white is not a good film choice to try and catch the setting sun through leafy trees.

3) But with a good knee brace, f22@1/25th can work quite nicely. Should have been a bit slower still to get more shadow detail, but I bracketed the _other direction_ . Which gives another lesson - trust your meter if your going to bother using it. It's measurement was correct but seemed wrong somehow...

#1 almost looks like a light leak.

Hope to drag my Anniversary Speed Graphics out for a few shots this weekend.

The last shot certainly shows what the old gal is capable of. The first shot shows the need for a shade, and keeping it out of the Sun.

KL, that's what I thought when I first pulled it out of the fixer. But no other shots show that, so I'm inclined to think it was flare. The sun was up to the upper right when I shot that.

Brian, thank you. I just discovered that bridge this afternoon when I decided to take it for a walk. 10 minutes from the house I found it in the back of a small park. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to be visiting it quite often. Lot of interesting possibilities there.

Scott, that was the only one of four shots that turned out. Way underexposed the others. But that one is one of those "ah" moments when it came out of the fix.
