Let’s talk camera straps

Looks very nice. Might try one of these. Thanks for posting.

My favorite is the Simplr F1:

You're welcome. They really are very nice. Amazingly compact and light, but they do not feel flimsy. They fold down so small that when you receive it you'll think they sent you an empty envelope by mistake. I use mine on my Nikon FEs and they are perfect for that size camera with a normal size prime lens (roughly 600g body and 250g lens—similar weight to Leica M and later 35mm and 50mm Summicrons).

I ultimately standardized on Artisan & Artist Easy Slider straps (ACAM-E25R). I most often wear a strap sling-style, and these provide good adjustment possibilities for shooting and can "tighten up" the camera to the body when not shooting. These are excellent.

Before that I used A&A silk cord straps in the original length, which I finally decided were slightly too short. I was already invested in these when the longer length came out, and never tried those. I do miss being able to tie a knot in the right spot to create an instant wrist strap.

Before that I used, among other things, Domke Grippers (non-swivel version), which are great over one shoulder but too grippy to work well when worn sling style.

The Leica OEM M strap is outstanding.

Ditto, except for the plastic lug "protectors" that scratch up the camera. Those leather strap lug protectors are better, like these from Fujifilm:

The UPstrap is basically the same, so they're best for hanging off your shoulder. Too grippy for bandolier style.

I use Domke Gripper straps with swivel quick release for all my 35mm cameras. The strap ends are permanently attached to each camera, and a collection of the center strap sections in various colors resides in a compartment of my roll top desk. It takes just seconds to snap whatever center section strikes my fancy onto the strap ends. I use the cameras on tripods a lot and not having to untangle a strap when I attach and detach a camera is a nice plus. It's also nice to be able to fit a stack of five Barnack bodies in Domke wraps in another compartment of the desk, and still have them ready for immediate use.

The gripper straps are also the best I've found for keeping the camera secure when hanging over my shoulder and under my jacket. And they're inexpensive.

I have to say, I don't like those old 70s colorful straps, and we replaced them as soon as the 80s hit with better. Cheap vinyl that gets cracked, flimsy clips that bend and are too big, way too wide. They sucked back then, and do now too.
