Hello all,

This is my first post and would just like to introduce myself.

My name is Mick and I'm 40 years old and living in Nottingham, England.

I suppose the main question is why am I here,

Well I love photography and was mainly keen on digital, but then my Grandfather died and he left me a Canon Canonet. I know not the most fantastic of cameras but Wow it gave remarkable sharp pictures. I shot a few rolls and got them developed and loved them.

And as they say, the rest is history, I'm now addicted to Rangefinders.

Since then I have bought a Olympus XA, and a Kiev 4. The Kiev 4 I adore.

Also have a Yashica T3 which gives fantastic shots due to it's Ziess lens.

My main ambition is to develop my own film.

Anyway thats it for now,

I hope to have fun here.

Mick

Welcome, Mick. The Canonet is a great camera, with many fans here. Same for the others you have added to your bag. I am sure you will like it here.

And don't forget to post some of those photos. 😉

Hello Mick,
Welcome from Wales,This is a good place. You ask it ,and someone can, and will give you an answer.

And it's friendly too!

Cheers,
Brian.

Mick,

Welcome.

It is a very interesting family and the best part is not too dysfunctional.

Rangefinders do have a unique feel about them, not perfect for everything, but IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) damm close.

If you like the Kiev take a look at a Nikon S2. After I got my Nikon S2, I traded a couple of Kievs a while back for a Bessa L (one can never have too many Ls).

There is a very interesting place (www.cameraquest.com) with some great reading on classic cameras (mostly rangefinders).
