Well-known
One cannot talk about Bruce Gilden without talking about Eric Kim, whose work is nearly identical in content, method and quality and therefore should appeal to the same public.
um... i dont know who that is so had to google it up... I can't see there is enough of his "work" (if there is any) to even say he's a copycat (hmm... feels like he want to be a celebrity rather than photographer) but I do find he do like to selfie himself and post it on the net... which makes me wonder, why don't he flash himself in selfie style, that'll make him a "new" sensation

I've always liked him and his photos. The comparison to Eric Kim is laughable though. Kim's blog posts are excruciatingly self-important and his photos are forgettable. Gilden's photos have life to them and he doesn't care what you think—which is something that every photographer should do more of.

nobody special
Bruce Gilden suffers a reputation gained from a few clips on the Internet. Not all of his work is ambushing folks in the street. In fact, a very small portion of his portfolio has been achieved in this fashion yet the reputation lives on.
John: agreed and a thousand "thank yous" for your comment. People should do a bit of research about his total body of work rather than expressing a knee jerk reaction based on a superficial YouTube education.

I like Gliden and like him a lot. His work shows real interaction with his subject, unfiltered by convention.

That's a joke, right?
That's certainly how I'm taking it.
