Hey All,

I am looking for a grip for an M Leica and am interested in your experiences with them. These are the ones that I have found:

1) Photoequip M-grip (old and newer model)
2) RAPIDGRIP from Tom Abrahamson
3) Leica M grip from Leica Camera
4) Various other models (some from China) on eBay

If you know of others let me know. They all have their pros and cons. I am leaning toward the Rapidgrip because it is larger, but it doesn't have a non-slip covering on it so I am not sure.

i have one now on the zi, and have had them on canon p's and the m3.
i like the angular shape, it helps me to hold on to the grip/camera. a grip is a must when using a wrist strap, imho.

i have read negatives about all of them and positives about them all also. unfortunately, i think it's a trial & error thing. i was lucky and really liked the first type i tried.

Didn't I read somewhere about the older style damaging the body covering of the camera, or was that another brand and model?

have not read that.
it hasn't damaged any of my cameras.
it doesn't actually touch the body, just the base.

on the zi, i have drilled a hole and polished it smooth in order to access the film rewind release button. no need on an m camera.

I like my Rapidgrip. It is a harty hunk of iron, very sturdy to grip onto.
I tried rover's Rapidgrip and liked it so much I got one immediately! 😀 It has a feel that I find very comfortable and is quite rigid on the camera. I use it on an M7 and a nice additional feature is that you can stow spare batteries inside the grip. I highly recommend the TA Rapidgrip.
