let's talk about the fuji 56 & 90 lenses...

I found the 90mm XF to be very sharp at all apertures. I've never felt the need to take test shots, which is surely an indication that lack of sharpness should not be a concern. Compared to the 50-140 Fuji zoom it's a feather weight and can easily be brought along without regretting the weight. AF speed seems nice and fast on my XE2 (with latest firmware) but still not upto the speed of my Nikon AF-S lenses on the D700.

Ideal short tele for landscape , travel and portraits.

the 90 is relatively light, sharp, fast AF, smooth bokeh - pretty wonderful. but i can't shoot it at less than 1/180 shutter speed without inducing shake, making it not much of a low light lens by my standards. head shots in good light? get one. infrequent portrait use? pass on it.

hope that helps, joe

i woke up this morning thinking i'm a basket case wanting to buy more lenses...i spent part of yesterday looking at camera bodies (online) and thinking that perhaps i should consider the xpro2 or even the new xt2...
what i have decided to do is start drinking again...
You could be more of a curmudgeon if you try, Joe; develop a more negative attitude. ;) Think "what stuff will help make my pics better?" Maybe you have everything you need? Just trying to help here... :)

56mm is a much more useful focal length for portraits, in my opinion. 90mm is more useful for events where you may have to stand far from the subject, like a wedding ceremony.

i pulled my calf muscle last week...and then again this morning!
so i have not been walking much let alone shooting.
i'm gonna try tomorrow with my 16 and the 55-200...small kit.

i do not envy ball players who pull something while running the bases...stairs are the worst enemy theses days.

i'm trying to learn to be more positive in my old age...but i still don't go to movies because i always get into a fight with the ass sitting behind me.

saturday morning has passed and i didn't buy anything...thought i'd stop and check out the bag section but didn't even do that.
i did take a few pics but they suck big time.

you have a clarity of vision that i lack...:(

Truth is, the more people are victims to GAS, the less I need to justify mine. :D - However, I honestly think, that the 90mm is an outstanding lens, even by Fujis standards and all their other fantastic lenses. If you need it... I think, with your gear-list is already beyond "need", as is mine. If it gives you joy, if it inspires you, then just why not give it a try. Sell it or give it back, if it does not live up to your expectations.

Trying out new things, can be inspiring and fun. So why not...

very hard to argue your points...i do think i would enjoy the 90 but i also fear that i might lose interest in the 56...and i really like the 16/56 combo more and more.
