Thanks Doug A, I have searched for Domke Gripper in the UK and there seems to be limited supply; it does look good if I can find one without swivel.

AAlfano, there seems to be one stockist in the UK, so may try the Simplr. Looks interesting and if not for the Canon, will no doubt work for the Nikon or X-Pro.

Mostly cross-body for me, with some time around my neck - if taking a few pictures in sequence or when wearing a jacket makes cross-body unpractical.
I'm really cheap on straps, reusing any decent second hand straps which come with cameras and don't look too out of place. My most expensive strap was a neoprene, with the shop's name embroidered - thats for a Koni Omega, so some comfort was needed.

Have modified Bolex and Mamiya 16 wrist straps for 35mm camera, on CLE, Nicca, Leotax and made "native" (primitive) leather strap from scrap leather and chord which are nice and allow sizing for fitting around hand and wrist. Also, use old shoulder strap for travel bags cut to recycle for wrist strap. Neck strap almost never use, but have serpentine with leather camera protector at attachment points to camera. Like the "hippie" colorful wide neck straps though.

As an aside...since discussing accessories. I have Canon Turret Finder but not the attachment for wide angle alternate focal lengths and found that cheap Dollar T have packet for cell phone and wide angle unit can attach to Canon Turret Finder with plastic ring to wide angle group greatly expanding usability of finder for all the wide angle focal lengths marked. Am looking for machine shop to make threaded ring for more permanent attachment though. Finder does nice job of framing field of view but expensive. Luck found one on auction site from Timbuktu someone found at dump? but cleaned up nicely! Not have pay Kevin. [I like Kevin dngmw...impressive site.] :)

I switched to the Peak Design Leash a while back, and it's pretty good. I use it for my XT3 and X100F interchangeably. The design allows me to change the length easily so I can go back and forth between cross-body and neck carry. And it rolls up well so I can wrap it around my wrist. It is smooth however, which for me is a plus for cross-body carry.

Made this one myself...might have $20 in it...I've made several like this one and a few without the extra shoulder pad...

I did buy a Luigi "for Leica" leather strap for my M6 which I loved. It became very soft and supple, and was perfect for carrying on my shoulder or wrapping round my wrist. Unfortunately, one day the split-ring worked loose, slipped off my shoulder and Leica with a 90mm lens fell onto a stone courtyard of a chateau! I nearly had a heart attack and needed a stiff cognac in a nearby cafe to recover and inspect the damage - a substantial dent at the viewfinder / rewind knob end and a bent lens hood. However, it seemed still to work. I did get in checked out on my return to the UK and luckily no internal damage had been done.

Now I have Domke gripper straps (no swivel) on the Leica and all my other cameras, which I find excellent, and, most importantly, no further accidents. Fingers crossed.

Perhaps this is a most vulgar fashion faux pas, but I recently purchased a new leather neckstrap for the 'blad from a Chinese vendor on the 'bay (there seem to be many, all selling the same product). Dirt cheap, beautifully made, and it even says "Hasselblad". They also offer conventional one-piece leather neckstraps that look equally nice, and cheap. I've always bought either Leica or Ona leather straps in the past, but no more.

I have a conflicted relationship with straps. I mostly don't use them, but keep some on cameras that tend to get a lot of event use - my Nikon D3 and the M6 come to mind. The question is usually, "in what situations do I need a third hand?" The conflict arises in the following way: my use of camera straps have been directly responsible for some of my worst camera drops -- you know, when the strap "grabs" something else in a bag or off a table. There was one particularly sickening "crunch" in the early 2000's when my M6 hit the marble floor of Union Station in DC, right on the viewfinder corner. Cost a pretty penny to repair, too.

Now you might say, "hey, it's just a piece of cloth/neoprene/leather. . . don't blame the strap if you can't figure out how to use it properly." And there is some validity to that. But why set yourself up for failure? For me, the bag has the strap, and the camera's place is in my hand, not swinging around my neck.

I was a die hard Domke gripper fan for the longest time, but when I recently picked up a chrome M2, I wanted something more classy.. i'm cheap though and didn't want to pay hundreds for a nice leather strap, so I got this $20 genuine leather strap from Amazon. I wasn't sure what to expect, or what the quality would be like, but it turns out, it's actually nice for the price. The underside has a slight texture, so it isn't slippery (thought it might be). It was a little stiff at first, but after using it for a while it softened up some. I liked it so much, I got a black one for my black M6. I've had it for a few months now and it seems to be holding up as well as any "legit" strap.

I was just looking at getting htat one on Amazon. Looks nice and simple.

I've been looking for a strap just like this one, but I can't seem to find it. Basically, I'd love a lightweight, thin, narrow strap that is ideally adjustable. Any idea what this one is? Can't tell if it is adjustable or not.

I'm also in need of some of those strap attachments, that go between the strap and the lugs. ANy idea where to get those (or what they're called)?

I'm currently using this strap, and while I like it, I really don't need the shoulder pad (stiff and too bulky).

I prefer to make up my own straps, mostly wrist straps but if I find a good neck strap I may attach it to one of my cameras. Since I do not carry cameras around my neck the wrist straps are preferred since they are functional and store easily. I have an original Olympus neck strap that is very nice as well as one for my CLE but they stay in a drawer! I can easily see paying for a half/case....$100 with a good neck strap but am most interested in the half case portion's leather being supple. The leather Rectaflex used has survived the years nicely. I am amazed at how well some of the Contax I and II cases and straps have done over the years. The camera esthetics are improved with nice accessories.... Raid's comment about the box and film and computer in a box evolution is quite a nice way to summarize how picture making has changed over the years.
