When I registered my D2 back in December, I took advantage of the two free issues of Leica Fotografie International (LFI) magazine. I received my first copy today. There are some really good articles and features, including a continuing series on Hybrid Techniques. This issue is part VIII, and the series is entitled "Black and White, The Digital Charm of Crystals: 15 Films Scanned and Tested." There is also a nice feature on R lenses, and one called "The Digital Zone System". The featured photographer is Thurston Hopkins. Of course the quality of the "magazine" is very nice. I haven't had a chance to dig into it, but wanted to pass the information along since this issue is dated February 2005.

Ray are the pictures good in the mag? I've heard mixed reports on the level of photography...

Being the true lover of photo books, this is definitely among the best photo mags ever made..the quality is really high, it becomes just a question of taste..the print quality is excellent.

Bye!

I'd have to agree with gabrielelopez. The print quality is very nice. The photos are respectfully presented. I've seen work here, in the RFf gallery, that could easily be in this magazine, so it really is a matter of taste and expectations.

Interesting. It was a year's subscription to Leica Fotografie before I came to live here in the U.S. that planted the seed of my interest in RF cams. The photos in those mags were absolutely outstanding and many were done by amateurs - they used to have a portfolio every month called "An Unknown Amateur". Glad to hear the quality is still there, I had heard otherwise...

I like this mag, too. Mainly because of the portfolios. There are really good ones in there.
