LHSA Leicavit MP disappointment

I've happily used a LHSA Leicavit MP on my modified M4 for a number of year until today.... Recently Strapateer has come out with a version of the Leica TROOV wrist strap (the original is super expensive, scarce)....& it's a beautiful thing. But..... the LHSA version of the Leicavit changed the position of the tripod socket....making the use of the wrist strap impossible. 🙁 Very disappointing!

Um, if a more central position of a tripod socket is a dealbreaker for you, do not despair. The X2D tripod socket is central to the bottom. I use a wrist strap and it works just fine. As always, YMMV.

It prevents the Leicavit rapid trigger download.jpgfrom advancing the film..... it's in the way and the Leicavit won't work in a single stroke.....
I wonder whose bright idea the change was....?

well it might....but it's an expensive reproduction of the original Leica wrist strap....& in the centre it's totally in the way....
I just posted to point out how the Leica Historical Society & Leica screwed up a good thing....
(Even with the useless change, those Leicavit reproductions (2003) are now going for $3000 USD+)

but the central attachment blocks the complete smooth movement of the trigger.

typical of small shop bespoke items..... the originals if you ever see one go for double that plus!
For context, a Leica neckstrap for an M-11 is $160....
If one happen to trend towards the 'leica gurus 😉( i don't ) a Thorsten Overgaard simple neck strap is $348.
Life is full of choices.

I guess I'm a cheapskate ... I've never bought a Leica neckstrap, and the ones that came with my Ms or other Leica cameras have always stayed pristine-in-the-box. 😉

Um, well, you do. Any new Leica I have purchased has always come with a Leica neckstrap. 😀
I just never use them, leave them in the box.

My M10 Monochrom, sans lens, cost me US$6100 new in 2022, and my secondhand M10-R with Summicron-M 28mm ASPH cost me US$7900 in 2023 ... So either you're talking in something other than US$ or my equipment has appreciated in value substantially! But I don't think I'll ever say I got them at bargain prices anyway. 😉

All good Godfrey... current M-11 is $10k... not that it matters.... each of us makes our own choices.
Matthew Whiteman @Strapateer makes a good product. They're not stamped out by the thousands in an Asian sweatshop.
Good hardware, fine quality leather.
Ask any machine shop to copy that attachment and i think you'll find the hourly rate eye-watering.
Yes they're relatively expensive. Anyone is welcome to use paracord like Sean Flynn did...
RFF is not generally a place requiring rationalizing price .....
How about that Bertele Skllaney 😉 ?

Yes, I had one of Tom's rapid winders an eon ago too. Always worked well, but I found I didn't use it much. I think I sold it along with the first M6TTL I had back in '99 or so.
