Hi all,

A BP LHSA m6 ttl has come up for sale locally - what would be the going
rate for one of these? I'm sorely tempted! Also the seller has a 50mm
Summicron, what would be a reasonable price for that?

cheers,

meeker

Hmmm, so a price of $1600- may be too good to be true. Also, he says
he has a 50mm f1.4 summicron - so I'm a little concerned. I've asked
to see if he has receipts, etc.

Yep, exactly. However, the seller does seem legit and has receipts - it is a summilux he has (out of my budget sadly). So I'm going to follow up, though he now seems to want only to sell as a bundle. 🙁

I recently Purchased my first Leica. The BP LHSA M6 ttl. I was able to get it in store at photovillage in nyc. It was not advertised on their site. A consignment, As-Is. slight brassing (that I found attractive) around the top plate. It was a fairly well known photogs user, according to PV. SInce I had done my research I figured a camera like this one was worth about 2000-2200 in the condition it was in. I was told the seller just wanted to get rid of it so the price tag was a low 1895. It was late in the business day and I was able to talk them down $100 if I purchased the Voigtlander 50 f2 heliar 250 jahre lens. Which I was goign to do anyway. My little heart was pounding, I wanted a black M6 and this was only slightly more than the near mint black chromes I'd been looking at! The only thing making it as is was the consignment factor, and the one thing that they said kept most collectors away. There are little water marks inside the viewfinder! you can see them when looking at the front of the camera but when actually looking through the finder they are completely invisable.
I made the guy call the store owner to verify this was the only problematic factor witht he camera and it was. Everything sounded right, I loaded a roll of film to test it. Viola! It was mine.

Oh, one more thing. Consider ditching the stock Leica strap. The little plastic end bits will scratch a nice semi-circular set of lines in the black paint. Or else, you could do what I did and cut a bit of moleskin (the self-adhesive stuff used for blistered toes, etc) to cover the plastic bit that touches the camera. It works great.
