Life Photog Rowland Scherman documentary on public tv

'Just saw a very nice documentary tonight on public television about this wonderful, former Life Magazine photographer. I believe it's going to be playing again tonight if anyone is interested.

Entitled: "Eye on the 60s: The Iconic Photography of Rowland Scherman"

What I found surprising and very impressive, in addition to his obvious compositional skills, was the consistently fine quality of his b&w prints or scans.

Nice links, thanks!

His stories were fascinating and timing was really fortuitous for some momentous events. Like how he got in and shot the first US Beatles concert with no press pass. And how he decided to take some photos of a new guy (Bob Dylan) at the Newport festival before anyone really knew who Dylan was or would become.

I guess it has been on KQED in San Francisco. But I can't find a repeat, but they have been messed up lately so maybe it will show later. I have Kanopy thru my library I'll try that.
