Devin, if you do stick with the 50/1.4, I have a small Fuji hood that will slide over its rim--snug but easy to pull off. It's in the kit image below (the kit is long gone).

My Leica iif sports a W-Nikkor 5cm/1:2 in chrome ; the other chrome is the 1:3.5 f=2.8cm. Both have a dedicated polarized filter and a hood. Neither seem "heavy" in use. Both deliver as needed. As I go out with my iif I feel prepared to meet any situation I might encounter.
