A few years back I bought a Walz Coronet B selenium meter. I put it away then because I thought it was dead, but just now I realized it does respond to light. Not I just need to figure out how to work it. Okay, set ASA. Then match the needle with...

There's an arrow for Bright, Dull and Dim. It reads out EV and shutter speed/aperture combinations. How do I choose which arrow to use?

Pointing it out the window with some indirect light coming in, I get an EV reading of 15, with 22 1/60 (by using the "bright" arrow). Inside the room, which is lit only by the windows, I get an EV reading of 13...again with bright. Sounds like too much.

Any ideas?

Okay, new development: outside, with the cover closed (only the slit letting light in), with the "bright" arrow, it gives me a new perfect "sunny 16 reading" for 100 ASA film. That's a good sign! So, maybe you use the cover down outside unless you get a O reading, then you open it and use the "dull" arrow? Someone must know!

Maybe the "dim" is only for use with the booster (which I don't have). Then, also, when do you use the diffuser that comes with it?

I don't know this particular one, but your explanation sounds fairly typical.A diffuser is always used for incident light readings.

You might also look for some of the old Weston or Sekonic manuals as it sounds like your meter and those used similar methods of using the meter.

Okay, looks like it works much like this old sekonic L-8. Different color markers, but the same operation, i think.

On the METROPHOT , three pointers: dark one for dim light; light one for normal light; and third for use with booster. Might be similiar.
