All,

I had used Lightroom 3, then switched to Aperture 3 (don't ask!)--and now am back to Lightroom 4 (where I will stay).

I have one question about Lightroom 4. When I shoot with my M8, I sometimes have it create jpegs in B&W, so that I see them if I review via the LCD. But when I import the images to Lightroom, I don't want the jpegs, just the DNGs. Is there a way that I can set Lightroom so that it knows to only upload DNGs--and not the jpegs as sidecars? (That can be done in Aperture, but I haven't figured it out in Lightroom yet.)

Thanks for any input,

R

I haven't found a way of doing this without user-intervention, and I suspect (having googled for the answer myself) that there isn't one.

What you can do however is ... during the import dialogue, you are presented with a screen of images for import; you can sort this by file type, deselect all the jpegs, and import only the DNGs

Not elegant, but the easiest way:
Go to the card before the import, sort by file type, mark and delete the jpg, then import the remaining dng.
A 20 seconds job.

Thanks for the input. I also had googled about and not found anything. My strategy now is to import and then group delete the jpegs from the finder window (which is outside of Lightroom). One related question: Is there any downside to deleting the jpegs initially? (I would normally work on the dngs and then export to jpeg if I need anything in that form.)
