This link shows the supported cameras of the newest Camera Raw converter (runs in Photoshop, Lightroom, …). It seems, the A7 is not supported yet. Adobe never brings out a new Camera Raw with new camera support for older programs. Seems you have to upgrade when Adobe updates Camera Raw for the new Sony.
... or get the DNG converter, when the updated version is out, to pre-process the A7 RAWs into something that LR4 can handle. This works well, but upgrading to LR5 is a better option.
The only way to get raw support for the Sony A7 in Lightroom 4 is to convert the Sony raw files to DNG format. I would strongly recommend upgrading to Lightroom 5.
Lightroom 5.3 Release Candidate already has preliminary support for Sony A7/A7r raw files. You can obtain it through this link: http://blogs.adobe.com/.../LR 5.3RC
I've been working with it for several weeks. While I've found a few minor bugs (and reported them ...), it is very stable and does a darn good job.
