The journey begins... at least it will in about a week. I just took the plunge into LF. It's Wayne's (Venchka) fault. He uses subliminal messages to plant MF / LF thoughts in innocent DSLR shooters brains.

This should be one hell of a learning curve :)

Good luck! I use a 4x5" Tech V.

Do have at least one rangefinder coupled lens?

If you haven't used a view camera before, you might want to look at Steve Simmons' book, _Using the View Camera_, and read through the articles at lfphoto.info.

I like it! Why did you decide on this camera?

/T

Because I've wanted a Linhof since forever. The Mind Meld Thought Transfer worked! :D Michael also said I could play with it sometime. :)

But seriously folks...Nope. No way. We're having fun here.

Welcome aboard. You know, looking at my first 4x5 negatives this morning...

They seem small. They do make bigger film you know.

See what I mean...Wayne is an evil man.

Using the View Camera- It's on the way. There's another thread on this site that recommended it so I ordered it a few days ago.

Linof- I got a very good deal on the camera and 4 lenses for one thing. Alain Briot seems to like it (not really my motivation for buying it though).

i've had this body for over 10 years. its an amazingly well built camera. Linhof Technika III. all metal vs. master technika plastic. hehe !

The Technika is the most Leica-like machine... heavy though. I'm actually swapping my Tech V down to a Crown Graphic for the work that I do -- it's kind of like swapping an M3 for a K1000 but both will accomplish the same thing, the trade offs being weight, build quality, movements, and options.... the Crowns are very basic.
