This old liquor store on Route 66 is located right down the street from Chief Auto Supply, which I photographed a few minutes earlier. The store in Santa Rosa is named for the Pecos River, which flows through the small New Mexico town. The store looks like a throwback to the 1960s or earlier. New Mexico has a lot of old liquor stores like this, like Owl's Liquor in Santa Fe.

Nice work there, Chris. These seem to be the kind of photos that I have come to want to take in recent times; having had enough of pretty postcard landscapes. I took note of how you didn't feel the need to show the building out to its left and right edges, only concentrating on the essential part. I tend to want to show the whole thing, and recently I'm questioning why I do this.

Get closer! I used to do what you're talking about, showing the whole building, but the things that drew me to it in the first place were often too small to see well or lost in the confusion of the larger scene. Some buildings need to be shown entirely, usually small ones, but I am often drawn to details or parts of a building, so I zero in on it!
