I will be receiving my used R-D1 in a few days. I have been reading through this forum for some time. Are there some peculiar areas to look out for?

The battery question seems to still be hanging.

2 gig memory cards from a named brand.

Forgetting to check if memory card is full.

My CV Heliar Classic 50/2 does not extend back passed lens barrel.

Any others?

Thanks

The loosely covering. If you can I suggest to change it for a GripTac covering ffrom Cameraleather
The camera strap is cheap find a Leica one or a neck or wrist Luigi strap from Leicatime.com

Remember to:
- advance before the next click;
- remove the lens cap (I'm sure you know that:));
The images you get from your 28mm, 35mm and 50mm lenses are silghtly bigger than the frames in the VF.

I support Michaels post. From full to half will last much longer than from half to empty...so an Epsoniffionados half pint is half empty, not half full ;-)

I have the same trouble with my 1960 MGA roadster fuel control...

Cheers,

Andreas

I wish I could buy an MGA with modern running gear, Twin Cam Coupe even! I just bought two batteries to stay ahead of the game, thanks all.

Well, make sure your eyepiece is always tight. I've lost one that way.

Give it to a friend to use, and besides seeing how cool they look using it, you simply may never get it back! My gf just absolutely adores it.

Oh, and, try not to drop it. :)

I will be seventy in a few months, so I think Mr. Luigi's wrist strap that I already have, will come in handy.

A full flashcard is not a big annoyance, more a kind of relief to discover when you think you're shutter is broken! ;)
Just make sure you have a card loaded, the R-D1 happily takes pictures without a card in it.

From personal experience:
Get batteries with at least 1500mAh capacity (3.7v). The lower capacity ones will drain much more quickly.

Ref: recent discussions: Skewed horizons, either due to out of whack frame/brightlines or sensor malalignment. The latter I'd like to see to believe however.
