Live Chat?

Noticed that Jorge has a live chat option on the Home Theatre site (and it's using the same UI as this site)...so...

If possible would anyone be interested in a scheduled live-chat where we can all get together over a virtual cup of coffee?

If an interest we can always 'bug' our friendly Admin :)

im up for anything. By the way, of al my sites this is my favorite :D

Not really. This is the only site I plan on keeping. I may sell the others some day.

I've never done live chat on any of the sites I visit and I'm not sure I would participate if it were available on the forum. I have read transcripts of live chat sessions on one photography forum I used to visit and it seemed that the discussions were rather unfocused, with people struggling to find something to talk about and often not staying on topic. With written thread posts you at least have the option of replying only to those topics on which you have something to say. Just my opinion.

An actively moderated live chat with a specific agenda would be more interesting than an unstructured conversation, I think. Maybe a "guest speaker" who will take questions...

I'm remembering such chats years ago in the Macintosh Utilities Forum on AOL, every Sat nite. I'm not much for chats, in general, but those were interesting. In addition to the moderator/host, it required a queue-keeper to keep up with who was next in the lineup for a comment or question. A Greeter was useful too, to clue-in arrivals as to what was going on. A lot of this could be handled quickly with prepared text "macros."

It is the cat avatars.;)

I am in. I normally check the site in the morning and at night, and if I can while being bored at work during the day. Sometimes the threads seem like a chat line anyway when there are a lot of folks on line.

What makes this site special?

Well, first of all the people are civil and nice to eachother.

I like photography and talking with people that do.

We are one of a kind here. Many photo sites but few dedicated to rangefinder cameras. Quite honestly, you cannot beat the optics of the rangefinder cameras :)

There is always something new to talk about. new subjects, planned trips many things to do with photography.

Knowledgebase is excellent.

People from all over the planet. ( except planet clair ).

just a few .....

Somedays the forums move so fast it's like live chat anyway! Like today.

I don't know if the chat idea would work for us, poor mortals with dial-up connections.

But then, this is the site I participate the most.
