I just did my first live.com purchase through ebay. Today ebay had a 10% coupon that could be used with a live.com's 30% rebate. Bought a mint LTM Canon Serenar 35mm f/2.8 kit with case and finder for $172.50 after coupon and rebates--shipped.

If anyone has made a cool purchase with live.com lets hear about it 😉

I've found a chrome M8 handgrip w/ box for $125, the M$ rebate knocked it down to $87.50 plus shipping. hahaha

I was also pleasantly surprised to find a 10% ebay coupon waiting for me when I signed on to buy Robert's (Digitalintrigue) M4-2 this morning using the live.com cash back feature. Robert received $759 for the body, which will only wind up costing me $483 (woo-hoo!) after I receive the $200 from Microsoft, which may take 60 days.

well when you are on the ebay site, how does live.com keep track of your purchase and refund your paypal acct? apologies if i am missing something obvious here.

You start out at live.com. You enter a search item [Leica M6]. On the search results page one of the search results there will be an ebay selection, (among many others). Maybe its an ad, I'm not positive. For me it was at the top of the responses, first choice. That clickable ebay choice will have a gold $ icon- that's the icon for the cashback program. Click on the ebay icon and you'll be brought to ebay's search results with many M6 auctions, just like a normal ebay search. You will still see the $ icon on the top with the word cashback. Just complete a buy-it-now auction and pay with Paypal. The cashback program will follow you and you'll see a cashback message at each check-out screen. If you don't already have a live.com account, you will be asked to fill out a very brieef form, then you must look for a messasge at your ebay "My Messages" tab and click on it, and you'll see the pending cashback. It sounds more difficult reading this than it really is.

Every 12 hours MS drops the discount by 5%. From 30% yesterday, 25% three hours ago, now 20%.

My interest in spending money has now waned.

I'm getting 20 or 25 after doing multiple searches...

searching for 'wii' seems to always bring up 25. Other searches only bring up 20%.

I just got a 15mm Voigtlander + Bower M converter for 224 shipped. Price was 300, 90 instant cash back. .... My G1 to M mount will cost almost as much as the lens!

What live.com supporters get in exchange for cashback? No one gives his money away without reason. Increased sales volume? Isn't this "first increase price by 20%, apply 15% cashback and cover rest - 5% from still large margin" ?

sellers don't lose or give anything...its m$ft kicking in a discount for the buyer.

why m$ft is doing this? maybe it gets a few more users which makes their search keywords ad program attractive to businesses. or they are just so screwed by google that they want to spend their way out of it.

No it's definitely NOT "increase price by 20%" ! It's people here selling their items thru ebay, not some big company, and the buyer using the cashback program. The seller has nothing to do with the program other than offering the item in an ebay buy-it-now auction just like before.

Some sellers are trying to take advantage of the system. People are selling Ipod touch 16GB models for $359 + plus shipping and are mentioning the cashback offer. Apple sells them $299 with free shipping. When the cashback percentage drops too low I would avoid buying through eBay. Too much risk for me.

I just bought a latest version Elmar 50mm Collapsible for $460 BIN and got $92 instant CashBack - Net $368 + shipping. Nice not to have to wait for the cash back. Unfortunately, I did not get the coupoin others seem to have gotten, so no extra 10% 🙁
