Well... I've been in San José for what now seems an eternity (about 3 weeks) and hardly keeping up with the chatter in this board (which I miss). Recently, however, I got a computer assigned, so I can be a little more frequent in posting and replying and all that stuff.

As for activities... I teach in the afternoons, which supposedly leaves my mornings free for photographic incursions. However, sometimes I've found myself too tired, or needed to do other things. The photo field remains active, nonetheless; people do not object strongly to being photographed here. In fact, on a couple of cases I have asked about it and the invariable answer has been a smile and a go-ahead. The only cloud in the sky is that both my Leicas are showing what seems to be a slight RF misalignment. Only the horizontal adjustment at a distance, because at shorter distances the RF patch lines up perfectly.

One of my cameras went through hell and back. I took it to a beach, and to a hike in a national park. It came back looking a bit dirty (sweat, dust and wind hit the body), but after some careful wiping it's back to its usual self. The other... is getting ready for another excursion, not as demanding as the one the black camera withstood, but still a bit rough. My lenses... are a dream, and I really regret having left my Elmarit 135! 🙁 (lack of room in my bag) But the 35-50-90 combo is a breeze to use here.

So... that's where I am right now. The next weekend I'll take off for a nice beach called Sámara (my wife went there last year during her own CR stint), so I'm packing my Kodachrome and all my Leica glass.

Nope... I'm not gloating or bragging because I'm not on vacations. I came here on a "busman's holiday": with a group of American undergraduates who are my students every afternoon.

That's all for now, folks. Thanks for bearing with me. And believe me, I kinda miss this forum, especially on Saturday mornings, when, like Joe, I sit down with a mug of my favorite brew! 🙂

I'll be back stateside on June 25th. In the meanwhile, take care... and congratulations to Bill on his anniversary!

Costa Rica... *sigh* Is there a more colourful country in the world? India, perhaps, but India smells.

I liked Costa Rica a lot, though Guatemala was my fav country in Central America...have a great time!

And I've been to lots of places that smell, like the farms next to my house 🙂

Not much of a smell place, but rather noisy. However, if you're in San José, like I am, the colors aren't precisely muted.

Let's hope my photos turn up fine. Thanks for your replies! 🙂
