2018 I stayed about a week with two monks in a small monastery. I stayed in one of their cells and lived buy their schedule. It was a great experience and i will keep on with this project. I have a few stays planed in other monasteries.

Except for prayers, Latin and bible studies they rarely talk. They wake up at 4.30 am. but don’t talk to each other until breakfast around 10 am. They only talk in the kitchen or in the library. No place else.

I really enjoyed your photograph, Landberg. Excellent images of an fascinating way of life. And I find you post work particularly pleasing.
As a total aside, I wonder about the value of monastic life. I certainly appreciate the importance of regular retreats, but as a full-time way of life it seems unnatural to me. My guru used to say, one learns swimming in water, not on dry land. It seems to me that practicing your faith in the world, though perhaps more difficult, makes one stronger.

Excellent and interesting photographs. I have visited many Catholic sites, but never participated at that level. Immersing yourself in what you photograph certainly gives the photographs more veracity, and makes the interpretation stronger. The photography becomes an extension of and possibly even an interpretation of your faith. Where was this?
I do not mean to be mean-spirited, but there are very severe issues in the Church right now (and I am Catholic with no intention of leaving). Did you note any "undue" behavior occurring?

This is a small monastery in Sweden with only two monks.
I'm an atheist so I have no connections to the catholic church. My view is to meet and document the people who choose to live like this in 2019. Why, is not that important to me. They have made a choice and I just want to document it. No judgement.
I don't know how the Catholic church should be, so i could not see any issues.

I get that. I probably wouldn't make a very good documentary photographer because I can't detach from the meaning of it all. To me the "why" is the story here.

Thanks. I just guessed based on the Marion image and dress, but likely (given Sweden) this is a Lutheran monestary. Do you write also? I am curious about their thoughts and feeling also; though you expressed this abstractly (and beyond words) through the photography.

These are remarkable. Great composition, and the mood of the monks really stands out. There's something about the austerity and solemnity of this which bothers/disturbs/unnerves me, though. Minimalism has been the fashion with monks and nuns before minimalism became a mainstream trend, and they seem to carry that attitude into their comportment as well as environment. I don't feel a sense of joy in their devotions, even quiet joy.
