LLL 35/2 Replica - One year later, how do you feel about your lens?
Well, I guess it's long enough for a fair evaluation here. Share us your thoughts, thanks!

It is permanenlty stuck to my M2, the image quality is just like my Leitz Summicron 35/2, perhaps a smidgen better in contrast due to the glass being clean and new.

I've been mulling over getting one of these. Nice shots teddy!
Quick question for the experts among us:
Is there an advantage to having one of the higher series (V3LC thru V6LC)? I see quite a few of the V2LCs on that auction site.

Good to know that you're enjoying your lens, the same batch with mine I suppose (Mine is 500124).
In that case, your Leitz 35/2 is on the shelf most of the time?

I was lucky enough to get mine when Kevin supported us here, total $600 so not so much to think about it especially with customed engraving .

I got two of the first run at the bargain price. When they arrived they were both hopelessly out if collimation. I collimated them. Then I found the focus was hopelessly off. Fixed that. By then the price rose and demand was high. I sold both of them for exactly twice what I paid for them. So I was delighted to see the back of them, is the short answer. I am very lucky to have access to the capacity to fix them, otherwise I would probably be properly annoyed.

Mine has been great. Lovely feel, the same as the original 8 element which I sold for silly money once I had this in hand. Image quality is really nice. Sharp in the centre wide open, perfectly usable in that regard. The flare on this lens is very dramatic when shooting into the sun, I really like it. Mine is serial number 500139 and I bought it for the good price early on though here. Saying all that I don't use it all that often preferring my 35mm Summicron V4 as it has (for me) a better balance between vintage and modern. I will keep hold of it though.

Ah ha; couldn't be better. Nowadays the price looks quite stable at range 1,000-1,100 USD

Well, it has been but - yeah... The Leitz hasn't been getting as much love really. My favourite lens of all time - of ALL TIIME is the Leitz Summaron 35/2.8 and that has been getting more love than the Summicron. But I have a lot of rolls on the go in different camera systems like the freak that I am so eventually I will post any photo that looks good here with the Replica, the Original and the Summaron f2.8. I feel sorry for the Summicron and I think I will take it out soon... It must have a sad face in the cupboard at the moment.

Glad to hear you like the Summaron, I have one as well and enjoy using it, A few weeks ago I watched a video on the Red dot forum and they kinda
dissmissed it as just okay lens not as good as the Summicron and I really didn't agree with them on that. I think all lenses have there good and bad point's.

I still think the original Leitz lens is better in term of images and build quality. These images are from Leitz Summincron 35mm f2 version 1, not from LLL knock off copy

But what exactly is better on the Leitz lens? It is different, no doubt, but it is hard to say wich lens is better.

I disassembled both lenses, the tolerance, focus helical thread are different, the images, it is difficult to quatify due to personal perceptions and tasts. The images from version 1 is just pleasant, balanced sharpness, color, shade details. For a true photographer, a lens made from the bottom of a beer bottle can be an excellent tool for artistic expression. So, if there is difference between the real Leitz and LLL knock off copy, do not use the term replica, clearly LLL lenses are not replica, they are just Shan Zhai/knock off copy.
