Cool. Have you tested them side by side? I'd love to see your results. They would be interesting, the old Elmar vs a remake of a retro. Please post the results for us to see.
I just checked prices, two for the price of an LLL Elcan, a bargain. If it tests out well I can snap one up. Thanks so much.

The collapsible Elmar-M 50mm f/2.8 is a remake of the original collapsible Elmar 50mm f2.8 from the 1950´s. This newer version is called Elmar-M 50mm f/2.8 and was made only a few years, until 2007. The old version from the 1950´s is simply called Elmar 50mm f/2.8. However, the Elmar-M is an enormous improvement, both mechanically and optically. There are two versions, a great chrome one, really a mechanical masterpiece, and a simpler black anodized one. There is no black paint version, alas.

This image has flaws. Despite this I like it for its overall impression. As a six second hand-held exposure it is an attempt at the impossible resulting with what IBM used to say, "Results are unpredictable" which is a polite tech way of saying you're screwing the pooch. But, here it is:

And here is a more traditional representation of the same scene at the same time. This is looking south from the Washington side of the Columbia across the Columbia towards the southern, Oregon shore. This is at the gate of Fort Columbia State Park. fort columbia wa at DuckDuckGo

And, finally this, another fishing boat and fishing boat rigging pic. I put this up to show what happens at night with artificial light at varying distances. The fishing boat is pretty close, the loading dock at Bornstein's at a mid-distance and the Cannery Pier Hotel and Spa in the far distance, viewable through the boat's rigging. F/2.0.

I have had many pics seem fuzzy. I have since the run of fuzzy pics put the LLL diopter correction attachment onto the viewfinder of the M9. Would you believe that those pics are in better focus. Sometimes I wonder. ;o)
