On my 3 week trip to India I think I shot a total of 9 rolls throught my rolleicord.

I will spend two weeks in Tuscany this year. I will have the SWC for film, plus the M9 for digital. I will try to be selective what I photograph. I recently bought 5 rolls of Reala and five rolls of Ektar. The rest will be from the fridge. I have plenty of Fuji 160 and Portra 160 and XP2 and AGFA 25 and EFKE 50 and 100.

I need to estimate how many rolls of 120 film I need for 14+ days. I have many rolls frozen. Maybe having two rolls per day is a good estimate.

Raid: I know we all approach photography differently. One thing I always insure that I never want to think about is how much film I have left. So I always bring twice as much film as I think I can possibly use.

I tend to shoot quite freely until some focus of the overall theme comes to mind. If you do not have an overall theme, one ends up with a series of random photos with the only thing in common being that they were shot in the same geographical area. Once I get an overall theme for a series in mind, I then tend to be more selective and only shoot those things that fit into the theme.

You mention 8 different emulsions. I only shoot with one but know others see differently. With so many choices, how do you ever arrange to have the right one in the camera at the right time?

I will choose mainly Reala 100 and one faster film for night potogrphy. My "theme" is capturing the sense of life in Italy in Tuscany. I will lok for people.

I always take more film than I actually use. The M9 can be used if I really use up ll 120 film.

Bob, that's such a well-conceived plan of attack!

not sure where you are going in Burma, but I really loved the color night shots
available in Y/Rangoon: the dark cover adds a veil of the sublime to the mix
of classic colonial architecture (thanks Britain) and modern day Myanmar culture.

Architecture interiors can also be especially time-stamped and unique.
Just make sure to report back to us with fotos after the trip!

That's what I end up with mostly, something like 30 rolls in 2 weeks. But I take at least double with me as there is no way to replenish the stock while on the move. I do use 6x4.5 however, so in 6x6 that would be 3 rolls a day. And then I often end up at places where you cannot/may not shoot.

I'm afraid that for 2 weeks Burma that wouldn't be enough for me. My take is always that I will never come back to the place so if I don't make a photo now I never will. I prefer to trow away 50% than fret over those 2 shots I didn't take.

EDIT: I don't have the luxury of digital as a backup, film only for me.
