I've recently bought a Canon IVSB (I think) and I'm damned if I can get a film loaded. I've downloaded and instruction book and followed it to the leter but I can't get the film to sit low enough to catch on the cogs.

I've tried a couple of films and after a while of trying to load the film the bottom edge of the film ends up getting a bit bent and creased.

Is there a knack or trick to loading a film?

What does CLA mean?

Wile the body looks mint, if I wanted to get the workings looked at is there anyone in the UK that you'd recommend for servicing a IV?

Regards

Mike

Have you cut a longer film leader? That will allow the film cassette to seat more easily. At one time, all 35mm film came with the correct length leader to fit Leica and Canon bottom loaders. Then the mfr's conspired to change to a shorter leader...and the rest is history.

I actually cut it long enough to roll back into the canister and then load the film with only the fully cut leader showing. I then wind on an extra frame to make sure I don't start shooting too early. I loose a frame or two, but that is ok in my eye.

Thanks! I needed such a thread 3 weeks ago when I was totally lost when trying to load a Canon IVsb. I figured it out with some help. Great illustrations here.
