The aperture ring on my 75/2.5 Color Heliar is binding up on me. Works fine cold but as the day goes on and it warms it starts to stiffen and bind. Strange, eh? I described such in an email to Stephen Gandy and asked if his peeps could repair it but he replied that it sounded so simple a fix that I should just source a repair locally and avoid the shipping time and cost.

Anyone have a good local repair person for this?

Looking Glass in Berkeley recommended Advanced Camera in SF, I guess it's a guy out in the Sunset named Yakov. Never heard of him. Anyone use him?

Others?

Rich I've used Yakov before but I'm not sure he's around anymore. I sent him an email a few months ago and never heard back. Didn't bother calling him. Any case here's his info:

Willie Meyer at Pro Camera maybe able to work on it but I'm not sure. Mike recommended him to me to fix my M3 light leak but he never did get the source of the problem so I had to send it to Youxin Ye.

Hey Rich!
You might check out ICT Camera in Mountain View. They did a nice job fixing my Rolleiflex at a reasonable price. For example, he had the tools-knowledge-skills to make a custom pin that I broke. If I'm not going to ship something, that's where I'll take stuff.

I was in there about a month ago...very nice people.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Advanced Camera took care of it for me. He tells me someone apparently spilled coffee or coke on the lens and it got down into the barrell causing sugary-stiffness in the focus and aperture rings. I first bought the 75/2.5 Color Heliar almost new as a chrome version but later bought this black one and sold the chrome one so as to better match my black paint MP. I know I never spilled coke or coffee on it so it must have been the guy who owned it before me and it finally worked its way into the inards. Bought the lens from the Classifieds here too! Oh well.

Anyway, works fine now. So, I got to get out there and shoot with it and tell myself I do NOT need the 75mm Summarit!
