Local source for back door foam (Canonet)

Anybody know of local (hardware store etc) sources for foam to reseal the back door? Don't want to go the eBay route..

The foamies from Wally World is too dense for my GIII QL17 back door..

The mouse pads I've looked at are thicker than foamies.

If you don't want to go the ebay route, your next best bet is Micro Tools. http://www.micro-tools.com/ You'll be putting in pretty much the same thing that came out though, and you'll have to replace it eventually. The stuff Jon Goodman (Interslice) sells on ebay is much better and won't break down over time. I've been using his seals for years. One thing you might try, if you are really dead set against buying something online: Many German cameras didn't use foam at all; they used what looks like black yarn.

I bought some from Jon as well awhile back. I did the camera light seals right away, but lots left over. Keep finding places to use the scrap. Got a "new" power winder for my Canon AE-1 in the mail the other day - competely unused, but the foam on the battery retainer was shot - sure enough, lots in Jon's set to replace it.
 
Ive used a product from craft stores (like JoAnn) for several Canonets and SLRs. It is called FOAMIES sheets by Darice. The 2mm foam is perfect when cut to the correct width and length. It is sold in 9x10" sheets in a vaiety of colors - black is my preference. I recall it only being a couple of dollars and will supply enough material to re-seal a lifetime's worth of cameras.
 
I do all of my cannonets and other cameras (except slr's) in felt and wool yarn. It works great and it lasts a lot longer than foam. Open any old Japanese camera (1950's-60's) and this is what they used then. Take a look on the door hinge of the QL 17, GIII and you will see felt. go to your local craft store, order black "sugar & creme 100% cotton yarn (5mm), a package of black presta felt, and some pliobond glue. You will not regret it.
 
Ive found some self adhesive felt sheets at a craft store. They come individually wrapped in 8x11 sheets. Michaels is the name of the store if they exist in your neck of the woods.

Ive fixed up a number of canonets with theese self adhesive felt and it works great.
