Well we are currently in our 3rd lockdown in the UK, and boredom has well and truely set in. I have once again succumbed to the siren call that is ebay. In the last week, with time on my hands, I have scored a Kiron 70-150 mm f4 with Match Mate for £4 and that is going to be a great lightweight walkabout lens when we are allowed out. I was also tempted by a mint Tamron Adaptall mod 103A 80-210 f3.8/4. It came with box and lens case and hood in absolutely new condition but I paid a weighty £25 ! The mount was a steal at £2.99. What has tempted you guys during the covid curfew ?

well John
'she' is quite a Cheap tart if I may say so
with looooong visiom
but hopefully loads of shooting Fun ...

Numerous typewriters.
A couple motion picture cameras.
I had my Pentax MX overhauled by Eric Hendrickson and now it's perfect.

What I really "lust" over is just time and space to go shoot. I have neither of those currently.

Haven't been in a good mood the last couple of days, knowing that my home country hit record contagion numbers and the "lockdown" word is muttered again.

My lockdown purchase has been film. As a slow deliberate shooter, a couple bricks of 120 B&W can last long. Delta and HP5. Not much color... yet. I didn't like at all the news about 400H being discontinued.

What I really "lust" over is just time and space to go shoot. I have neither of those currently.
As Phil says.
I am lucky to live in one of the most lax countries Covid policy wise, so a relatively normal life is possible. However, I also struggle finding both of these.

Thanks Helen. Yes these days I have had a load of fun with cheaper cameras and lenses. When I was a lad, I couldn't afford Tamron Adaptall lenses, so I am now taking advantage of the fact that they can be had for the price of a burger and fries. I plan to get a handful of mounts together and I'm good to go for my Olympus OM1ns or Nikon FM2n. The Nikon mount is the only pricey bit as they fit current dig it all cameras and are hence in demand.

I bought a Coolscan 5000, just to see if it will yield better results with color negs than my camera scan setup.. and I suspect it will.

I have also stashed some film.

I picked up a Vivitar Series 1 35~85/2.8 Vari-Focal lens, ~$110 with shipping. An odd lens, was about $500 when new in the 1970s. The original Vivitar Series 1 lenses are first-rate.

The US is one of the most lax countries regarding COVID policies and the fact that we're the epicenter of the infection rate in the whole world shows it. Any "lockdown" policies here lack teeth because it is supposedly our "right" to be able to infect others with a disease that takes whom it wants. I self-isolate due to my responsibility to my family, my coworkers and my clients, who look to me for care, not to get them sick or be sick myself and unable to treat them.

I'm sorry to get off topic, but the pandemic started the thread and it rules many aspects of life for most around the world.

Photographically, I want to get the motivation to finally do wome work with this torpedo camera back and turn it into the superwide panoramic film holder I have set it aside for.

Many of us probably have rewarded ourselves for being conscientious during the COVID crisis. I've picked up several older Nikon digital bodies and a few lenses. My two most recent purchases are the Zeiss 25/2 Distagon and the Zeiss 50/1.4 Planar in Nikon F mount--both used but in nearly new condition.

Leaving me alone with a computer and a credit card is dangerous when I'm bored and stressed.

I bought that lens Brand New in the early 80's...still have it, bought it for my Pentax MX.
I also bought the 70-210 around the same time...

I haven't bought anything yet but I'm looking for a Waist Level Finder to use on my Nikon F/F2 bodies.
I've been shooting and developing more B&W film lately and I'm thinking the WLF will make using those bodies easier to use while wearing glasses...
Prices for a decent DW-1 are a lot higher than I was expecting...seriously, there's not much in there...

lol. really ? i remember picking them up for cheap in keh because i couldn't afford a good prism.

While waiting for the local shop to finish a CLA on a very nice Retina IIa, I've been buying filters for it. First was a new 29.5mm UV from Japan. Then I found a bakelite case with a green, yellow and a very sad 85. Finally, it was too good to pass up, a set of 29.5mm Waltz, including a blue, a much better looking 85, a darker yellow, a red, another UV and a metal hood. All I need now is the camera.

I went on path of ditching DSLRs. Canon RP.

We are on Ontarian 2 3/4 th "lockdown" and I want to sell more than buy. But people are freaking out to meet in person even before 3/4 "lockdown".
Maybe it is good thing. I'm finding my Nikon manual SLRs to be in the same league with Leica RFs.

We must all buy more gear and look forward to the time when we can use it again.

But i also use the time to edit and build up slide shows.

I'm sure the 3rd lockdown will be the charm. Surely a 4th or 5th will "do the trick". Or 6th. Gotta flatten that curve.

OK I'll confess. So far in this pandemic, I have acquired an Elmar-M and a 90mm APO-Summicron. The latter was a birthday present from my wife; the former, from me. Both were used, in like-new condition. I did sell a 50 DRS to make way for them. I guess I do more buying and selling in the winter, out of boredom; and the pandemic makes it worse. I don't go anywhere except to the office, where on a typical day I don't see anyone, and to the doctor if needed. So: I work on slide shows; plan to do some darkroom work; I installed a new screen for my slide shows; and for everything else, there's ebay.

Well, I'll confess too. Fortunately I've been able to get out and about on foot for exercise, with a camera, and have not been bored. No camera gear purchases...
