For reasons unknown, some are having problems logging into the new RFF site, others are have zero log in probs.

So a few suggestions if you are having log in problems:

Turn off any privacy software for RFF, and enable Popups for RFF.

Remove all RFF cookies before trying to log back in.

Enable 3rd party cookies and tracking for RFF so that behind the scenes the parts can work together.

Firefox or Edge browsers seem to be more RFF friendly than other browsers.

For those not aware of it, for the time being the GALLERY and the CLASSIFIEDS require you create a 2nd identity and password (the same as your normal RFF ID and password) in order to use the Gallery and Classifieds. The two logins are temporary, George is working on it.

IF all of the above does not work, try logging in on another computer entirely to see if that solves it.

We have made a lot of progress the last week, we still have a long way go to.

Remember to click the REMEMBER ME option after you log in to the main site at RangeFinderForum.com.

You will not stay logged in if you don't click REMEMBER ME.

The previous message was from Stephen, trying to find a way for me to login into this site. We will see if the login survives the time it takes to write this. Just getting this far required opening up the browser to all cookies and pop-ups.

I can log in if I choose the 'remember me' option, otherwise cannot. it's not urgent but I think that must be fixed, cause it stores the password in some file on your computer that can be a safety issue.

clicking "remember me" has always been the way to stay logged in on RFF
that is nothing to fix there.
Of course the site stores your password, without that you could not log in

i've never used the remember me option with the old version, you must be able to log in without selecting remember me, if you close the browser then you are out, you have to log in again. Of course site stores the password, what i mean is if you click remember me button when logging into any site your computer stores your password on 'your computer(the user). That file is the first thing hackers look, i think moderator can give detailed information about that.

If you choose the remember me thing, you are logged in until you clean cookies passwords etc. from your browser's history. Also when you purchase something with credit card, when you choose remember, then your card number is in a file on your computer and that can be hacked.

I was able to log in to the Gallery last night. During the past week, the Gallery password reset would not recognize my email as valid. Out f curiosity, I peeked at my own profile, noticing that my email was all capital letters (I had been writing my email in small letters during log in attempts). When I retried using all caps, it was accepted as a valid email and a new p/w was generated. cause-and-effect or coincidence, I don't know. Just thought I would pass that along.

My login difficulties are largely resolved now. At least from my experience, clicking on Remember Me is a critical step. On the old site I could login without clicking Remember Me and I would stay logged in while navigating to different parts of the site. Although the login timed out pretty quickly (e.g. while drafting a post). On this site without enabling the Remember Me my login would be lost instantly once I left the home page. I agree with the posts above that do not like having a set of active login information, cookies, trackers etc, stored on the computer for extended periods - I'd rather log in each time I visit and need to post anything, then logout. Now, however, I will click the remember me every time I do that.

I have no problem logging into the new RFF site, but I do have problem logging into Gallery. It goes well as described till the moment when I get the stupid message to hurry up because there is something in my mail. Despite my mail address being recognized, that "something" never arrives.

Unknown reasons for having problems logging in?
You're joking, all changes of software for forums I know were accompanied by enormous difficulties.

For protection of my computers I won't follow your hints.
No enabling of popups.
No enabling of 3rd party cookies and tracking, so that behind the scenes unknown elements are able to steal my dates.
Firefox? - Never again, what about Chrome and Safari?
Not really good, but perhaps somewhat better working on Macs.

It seems your software is not yet working reliably, because after a login was possible yesterday, the same password was rejected today.
Let's see whether the next time I try to log in, the password that was set up today is rejected and has again to be replaced by a new one.
I will avoid the gallery for now until the initial problems have been resolved.
Finally: I hate Capchas and please don't start with the notorious pictures of buses, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights.

All the best.

Very often when I try to log in I have to make two attempts before I'm allowed in. Not a big issue, but a bit annoying. I'm using the Opera browser and I've got a VPN activated at all times, but that did not create any problem on the old platform. I agree with mnutzer on the security issues, my browser is set to reject popups, 3rd party cookies and tracking. And all cookies are deleted when I close the browser.

My profile is right for the Forums -- it's my original avatar and info. Also it's right for messages, I can see my message history. But I don't see myself in the Gallery section, it says I just created my account although I've been around for ages. And I don't see any of my posted photos at all!

was having trouble logging in the past few days (kept logging me back out). but i've clicked the 'remember me' box, and so far no issues, fingers crossed!

As I wrote in #11 "I hate capchas" and won't waste time trying to guess illegible hyrogryphs.
Rather, I will focus on other photo forums.
The previous forum did without such nonsense.

It's nearly impossible to edit ones photos correctly at the first attempt, so I won't try to load any photos until this worst mistake is corrected.

It's impossible to edit photos right off the bat, so I won't post photos until these mistakes are fixed.
Why has this once good photo forum turned into such a horde of bugs?

I still don't notice any improvements when logging in.
Sometimes it works, but often it takes too many time-wasting attempts.

Create a new account. That is what I did, too many film posters have departed since the site change. I think they simply gave up trying to get in, I know I nearly did.
