I purchased a Lomo Elektra 112 on eBay and it arrived today but I have no idea what type of battery it takes.

The camera itself is based on the Yashica Electro.

If anyone knows the type of battery needed, please let me know. I have e-mailed the seller asking him but just received the camera today so I haven't gotten any reply as yet.

The camera itself appears to be working properly, although you really can't tell without a battery.

If anyone could tell me what battery it takes I would greatly appreciate it.

I also posted a similar message in the Yashica forum, so if you think you are reading this twice, that is why.

Thanks,

Dick

Well, think I've warned a couple of times about this camera here :)

The power source is Soviet 4RC53 zinc-mercury battery (4РЦ53), discontinued in mid-80s. Try 3-4.5 volts (disclaimer: wild guess here) from a DC source on the contacts to see if the camera is alive. Its elctronics is prone to drifting out of factory calibration with time; check the metering accuracy if you ever intend to use it.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try. The seller replied to me giving the length of the original battery and I sent him another e-mail asking if he knew the voltage, but am still waiting for a reply to that.

I would like to use it and after I use it once, it will probably sit on a shelf.
