As my post on that thread.
£165 total UK price, posted overnight delivery. (camerabellows)
€275 = £183 prior to shipping, prior to any import duties. (lomo)

When Amateur Photographer tested this one a few months ago, they had problems with keeping the lens panel still in the breeze as it's constructed to a price, so maybe it's not the best entry into large format anyway.

I think the guy in Black and White Photography had more success with that kit. Maybe he made more model aeroplanes as a kid

You definitely need woodworking experience. Read the downloadable instructions from camerabellows.
they send you a pattern on a few pieces of cardbo-...i mean...wood. You have to file each edge down, and make sure the whole thing fits flush. All the quality control is left down to you.

There's an enraged thread going on on RFF about 'build quality' of Leica vs. other rangefinder camera's. Quite futile in view of this lomo-thing.

My first film camera was a Lomo LC-A. True, it was an expensive rip-off mystique, but I think it tested my interests and dedication in the art of photography. I will never buy anything from the Lomographic society again, but it was an innocent and honest start. I hate them for every other reason than that.

There is a book about building your own LF camera, making your own lenses and LF paper negatives. I think its called "primitive photography". If I had to build my own camera, I wouldnt pay 275euros for a kit.

Is it just me or do you have to be "cool" to own a lomo, personally wouldn't pay anymore than £20 for a LC-A...also do you have to cross process everything, talk about boring...

I'm not sure it's cross processing, I think it's just the cheap, out of date film they sell as "ideal" for your Lomo that gets that look. Or maybe it's the flash unit with the coloured gels built in. Whatever, it's pretty unpleasant.

sorry mark was talking about my friends who happen to own lomos...I kind of went off on one there...there are too many hip kids in Glasgow with lomos and skinny jeans..mind you I was the same at their age but with a polaroid...I think I should shut up now

At least Lomo still promotes film based photography... just a thought.

Do they sell a cheap digital sensor for that?
Maybe I should salvage my old scanner....

Whatever you think Lomo is one of the reasons film is still alive, and they introduce a lot of people to photography, some of them will proceed in the hobby, so I don't have any problem in spending a little more to buy from them (of course if it's a lot more then is another matter)

Ash,
They are profiteer, but then they help keeping film alive for a little longer.
Their Holga "value" pack (or whatever) is really lame, is't it? Yes, they try to ripe people off light leak plastic toy camera, LOL
Damn, they are smart...
