I’m wondering if it’s a gimmick or if it has an ‘arty‘ aspect that’s worth exploring, playing with.

Huss has it, but he's temporarily banned. He posted some images somewhat recently, but I can't remember which thread. If I find it, I'll edit this post and add the link(s). There's also some info here, but the image links are dead.

Thanks for pointing to this, dourbalistar.
Huss provides a good balanced write up, however he suggests a fully manual camera, such as the FM2 that I own, isn’t the most appropriate, and that one with aperture priority may be more appropriate. Pity the photo links are down and also that Huss is on a sort of sabbatical.
