I am one of those people who doesnt give lomo and holga a second look, and frankly I would rather spend 30 bucks on a yashica or canon rangefinder (like I really need another....) although there are some nice looking shots in the gallery there, but yeah, not my thing

I was more thinking about where the money ends to, and the book as a bonus (or not, you may want to throw it away when you receive it)

I really don't like the Lomography website(lomography itself I'm indifferent to) so I went to look at the website of the oganization that ultimately gets the $ and does the work (it's a link):

Administration costs are(according to their report) less than 3%. I like that!
I do think it's a pretty good thing the Lomo folks are doing.
And I don't have to be on lomography's mailing list or deal with their site.

I partially agree, but consider that the guys help a lot in keeping the film alive and well.

Absolutely. I'm not opposed to lomography or anything like that, and I've looked at the galleries there and found some pretty good photos.
I just don't like the site itself(it confuses my browser) but it really doesn't matter--they are having fun and, as you say, buying lots of film--that's definitely good.
And, to be honest, I do want one of those "colorsplash" flash units.
OK, I really want one of the Yasuhara T012 cameras but can't afford the $.
And I honestly think the LomoKikuyu project is a great thing to be doing. And they(the Lomographic Society) are giving all the $ to the cause. Which I really appreciate since some "charities" use a huge percentage of donations for admin costs.

The site crashed my computer ... don't think I'll be returning there anytime soon.

I got back into film thanks to first the holga, then a lomo. They do take perfectly good shots. And having them led me to rangefinders. And they are supporting film. So that's a big plus. The holga, while basically just a plastic box, can take some cool shots. And the lomo is a nice compact camera. Overpriced to be sure, but nice.
