Look what came in the mail

for which camera?

Joe,

M3 (with budda ears) and perhaps the IIIc.

(and of course, any other M or non-M camera that I get in the future.. because I know that I'm going to continue this buying thing.. :D)

Dave

my m3 has the budda ears too but sadly no luigi case.
which is kinda strange in a way. my main reason for the cases is for winter shooting as trying to kep my hands from freezing and i thought the m3 would be the main outdoor winter shooter as it has no meter/battery etc.

i do have an old m case donated by brian (sweeney). i poped the rivet and it's now a half case.
this will do the job but it ain't so pretty like luigi...

Got this lens saturday morning... Didn't arrive in the mail, but I met the seller who offered to deliver it. Really nice guy, we talked about rangefinders for nearly 2hrs... I think he was a little thrown that a young guy like me would be interested in film photography!

I spent all of saturday afternoon shooting at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival & should get to see some results soon!

Happy boy today!!! My 'new' Nicca IIIS with Nikkor 5cm f/2 arrived... I'm very, very happy with the condition... Will be posting some shots I just took of it in the appropriate threads. Here's one for starters...

Man this is a nice camera! Can't see it leaving my hands tonight!

Peter

Whoa, Peter, that is one handsome, sexy camera! It's a shame Nicca didn't survive as another Leica-clone manufacturer.

I've got a couple in my eBay watchlist ... not that I'll actually pull the trigger at this time, but I am interested in final price.

Thanks Joe & Doug... Trius, I think it's a shame as well. If the latter models (Nicca 4,Tower 45/46) were more common it would give the LTM people another choice among the greater featured quality cameras. I'd love one of those models, but they just go for too much money! I've been watching the Tower/Nicca prices and I'd like to think I could give you a concrete price range, but from what I can see it really depends on the auction. Mine had crappy blown out pictures & hardly any description, so it went cheaper than I expected (didn't initially think I was going to win this one)... Good luck!

Peter

Wunderbar!

Wunderbar!

The nice fellow Contax-III body on the right arrived after a long trip from Canada, I bought it from FrankS and will undergo a complete overhaul sometime in the upcoming 18 months hopefully. I snapped in my 50/2 sonnar and it fits perfectly. It's standing there with my good old reliable Kiev-2A fitted with a 50/1.5 Jupiter-3 :D

90mm,f4 Rokkor-M

90mm,f4 Rokkor-M

This one showed up a couple of days ago. I had been looking through eBay for something interesting and noticed this with only one bid, ($150) on it and only a couple of hours to go. I thought why not stick a low bid in and see what happens. Thinking the other bidder would probably out bid me and not wanting to snipe the thing in the last few seconds I just entered my bid and promptly forgot about it. A couple of days later I'm checking my e-mail and there is the notice that I won the auction. Not bad for $169.

I do have a Leica 90 Tele-Elmarit, but mine has the dreaded "etching" problem, and even though it takes great pics I know it is sub-par optically. I am going to see how this new Rokkor compares with the etched TE.

Regards, Paul C.

Wow, Paul, that's a good deal on that lens. I just picked one up myself (paid just a little bit more than you, however) and I, too, already had the TE. Will be curious to hear what you think about the Rokkor versus the TE after shooting with the Rokkor a bit. So, I guess this is a request to post your results/thoughts when you got 'em! :)

I will let you guys know what I think, but I have never been very good at lens comparison shooting. I think a person really has to put their mind to the task and set shooting parameters that give viable results that actually show any differences.

I want to do the comparison mainly because I want to evaluate the "etching" problem of the TE. The only outward manifestation of that problem has been a tendency toward flaring by the TE. Most shots taken with no bright light hitting the front lens turn out very nice, and certainly sharp enough.

Don Goldberg (D.A.G.) Worth the Wait

Don Goldberg (D.A.G.) Worth the Wait

It took 36 days but I got my Summitar back from DAG and it looks and feels like it was new again. It adjusts so smooth now. This lens is ready for another 50+ years of use. JimG

Beutiful.
Does DAG do glass recoating or just mechanical fixes/cla?

Rich, the lens had some superficial haze and slight dust inside the lens. It was a little stiff also. That was all he did and somehow made the lens allot newer looking to. I don't think he does recoating or polishing.

I have a question for you. He also send me an ORAKO filter. Do they just pop on? There's no threads.

This gorgeous little CV 21/4 Color-Skopar with rectangular hood arrived yesterday from Stephen Gandy. The lens appears to be beautifully constructed. I love the focusing lever. And the finder lives up to its advanced billing. It is truly amazing. Thanks to Stephen for getting the lens here so quickly (ordered on Thursday, arrived in Ottawa on Tuesday!!!). I'm a happy camper. :D :D :D

Here is the lens mounted on my M4.
