It's been a busy month or two for me...
First, I broke out the old Yashica GS, which got me fired up about rangefinders again:
Then, I happened upon cameraquest, and read and reread the Vintage 70s Rangefinders article, and decided that I had to have more of these affordable beauties.
I dropped by the somewhat local shop, looking for one of these 70s gems; I remembered seeing a Canonet there, I think it was a 28. But it was gone by the time I got there. I wound up taking in a pretty nice Olympus XA. (no pix of this one yet, it's out for repair; sticky shutter)
About a week later, I picked up a Canonet GIII from RFF's rogue designer. Nice camera; well-deserved reputation for solidity.
Then, I started to miss my old Rollei 35S that I'd ebayed a few years ago. So I found another one on ebay, this time with the Tessar lens and chrome body. (I prefer chrome) This one's going out next, as the aperture is very hard to get all the way open or closed. Probably just needs a CLA. But I do love this little camera.
Last week, I won an Olympus 35RC on ebay. ($41 shipped) The seller says it is operationally excellent, and it even comes with a piece of crap flash!
Now, I'm working through a whole ton of darkroom stuff and working on making our guest bathroom into a part-time darkroom. The thing I miss most about film is the high-quality B&W prints. It is hard, if not impossible, to duplicate those results consistently with digital.

The best camera is one that still works!
Two exposed rolls of 120 have been sitting on the shelf staring at me for weeks ... now I can develop them and use this new toy!
I knew I shouldn't have bought a medium format camera.

Olympus XA plus A11 flash.

The camera is in great condition, the electronics all work and the shutter sounds good at various speeds. Unfortunately, all the light seals have perished so it needs a really good cleaning inside the film chamber and needs the seals replaced. (No complaints: a very good price and sold "as is".)
I've ordered a light seal kit from John Goodman on eBay:

which should help me do the job nicely. John is a great guy, and very helpful.

The Contax G2 gear is another matter. That was GAS pure and simple. I can't justify it. I just wanted it.

I would think chrome ... nice contrast with the olive, maybe adds a bit of brightness/shine. But what do I know?ElrodCod said:A brand spanking new Olive R2 arrived from CameraQuest 15 minutes ago. Now I need a 75mm Heliar.....but can't decide between black or chrome

Today my cool little Baby Graflex 2x3 arrived -- it's a beaut and cost me all of $25!
Can't wait to fit it with a roll back and take it for a spin.
Dates back to '41 and the RF still works!

Nice camera Wes.
Hey, where did you get those clever little leather (I assume) tabs to protect the camera body? I have an MP and my Leica strap is rubbing on the chrome and creating wear marks.

BTW, I just became the proud owner of a new Zeiss Biogon 25/2.8 ZM. I can't believe how small this lens is. I am trying it out now. Processing and viewing the first negs should be a treat!

Chrome was my first choice by a slight margin but I got a very good deal on a black one that was impossible to pass up. So....a near new black 75mm Heliar arrive from Dubai by express post today.
