Just not sure on how long a Stored/Rarely accessed drive will hold it integrity.
I thought about Blue-ray as a more permanent archive... but the 128gb disks are expensive per TB (90 disks)
I may do 2TBs drive instead of 3TB. because they will fill faster.
Data integrity in a dormant hard drive is not a problem, provided it is not kept near strong magnetic field. Problem arise only when the drive is dormant for too long, let's say 6 months, then the spindle bearing might sieze, or bearing lubricant thicken up so as to prevent spinning.
Optical disc is not a good long-term backup solution. Deutsche Gramophone tried to archive their music collection on CD only to discover 5 years after being recorded, the discs started to develop tiny holes on the platter. I think it's more or less same case with Blue ray disc.
Well good luck with your choice. The unit does looks very nice and sleek.
