Looking for a 50mm f1.5

Would that be Kevin Li of gokevincamera, of ebay fame? He's the guy who raises prices on his gear after it sits around for a few months with no buyer. I'm not sure how this strategy makes sense.

...for something less than Kevin Li charges ($400).

If you want it now, pay the man. The nice ones seem to sell for about $350 or so, and they're fairly rare.

Neat lens. I had one for awhile and it's built like a tank. Heavy as hell for its size.

I wanted one and didn't want to wait. So, I bought one from Kevin. Yeah, I paid a bit more than if I had been patient. But it's a beauty and I enjoy it. I don't disparage Kevin for making it available to me at a bit of a premium. Like "kevin m" said above, "If you want it now, pay the man."

I used to have one in frankly bad condition cosmetically. Lots of corrosion on the chrome but (strangely) pristine on the glass. And BOY was it a shooter. I just loved the look that lens gave black and white shots using chromogenic film - which has lovely tonality when exposed well. But with this lens, (lips purse, eyes go to heaven, makes face that boys make when they see hot girl) wow!

hmmmm

There`s been like 3 of them on ebay recently......but as always there is the risk you take by buying there, I had someone buy me a Canon VT for a barter there and the f1.5 that was on it was dead on, a flawless, fantastic lens, that I use almost every week, it`s like '"welded" on one of my "Half Race" IIIC`s

......I traded the EX++ body for a very nice 1945 Leica IIIC

Finding this lens in good shape for under $400 will take time, they are out there, but normally don`t stay on the market long, I myself am guilty about writing and raving too much about it, so the prices just go crazy, while everyone interested on this site just hits ebay for them, best bet is to wait and be patient, buy private or if you can`t wait buy from Kevin, I paid that premium to him for a <EP> lens but that was worth it, to complete a rare set of camera equipment, a 1955 Canon IIF2
(which I will be selling soon, but it`s NOT going to be cheap - just might be the most expensive Canon RF anyone`s going to see here for a while, but it`s a beautiful kit - I WROTE YOU A MESSAGE ABOUT IT)

Happy Shooting!

I've had good dealings with Kevin Li. I'd describe him as a tough, but honest businessman and an asset to the classic camera world. I've sold him a few items (and bid against him on eBay a lot!).

I'd say David is right on the mark in describing Kevin. He isn't bashful in his own buying on eBay, and pays for the prime, pristine items. If you buy from him, at least you are assured the item will be as described. From what I gather, the occasional mistake is taken care of in a reasonable, dignified way.

So, patience or Kevin. If you want it now, plunk down your money on a sure thing. It may be cheaper than an eBay gamble.

Raising the price on an item that hasn't sold can be good karma, sometimes. A certain buyer, and these buyers do have money to spend, will equate top dollar price with quality, and disparage the bargain priced identical item. Go figure... and Kevin takes care of those, and the others who don't want to wait.

Just got the first roll of Ilford c41 ISO 400 b&w back from the mini lab, damn this is one nice lens ..... few cleaning marks, and a tiny cluster of scratches on front lens, but the images are just fine at 4X6, more work to do with scanner and 8X10 printing, but I got it for a song, I can see how it could become welded to the Bessa!!

Images to follow once I get home to the scanner!
