Trying to find a replacement black dot for my m8, DAG always seems to be out of stock and tried Leica but no joy. Anyone have a source?

My M5s need red dots!
Leica won't give you one unless you're replacing one from your titanium M7 special edition.
Seems to me that you have only one choice: paint your current red black... if you still have it.
Best of luck!

I painted mine on my M6 - simply applied the paint and then before it dried - wiped off the paint from the raised "Leica' lettering. I think others have doe the same

cover all logos with black gaffers tape. that will solve it, too.

I changed my red dots on the M6 and M7 with original Leica black dots from Don Goldberg of DAG camera.
His website seems to always indicate out of stock of this hard to get item.
I wrote him a mail and asked for dots, got a prompt answer, that they indeed were OOS, but was contacted by Don, when he got them back last summer.
Changing the dot is a nice excuse, to adjust the rangefinder alignment as well ;-)

I might give it a go at painting mine on the M8. Can someone tell me how to go about removing it?

Put your thumb on it and start "working"it. Then use to toothpicks to twist it right and left. It will come off after a short while, adhesive intact.

I have to comment about Don - I am always surprised, how quick and professional he responds.
I bought bits and pieces from him and always, mails come back very quick with spot on info and very easy business.
So back to the dots then …
