Looking for a camera/messenger bag

+1 for the Timbuk2. I've been using a small classic messenger plus the small camera insert and can fit my M8, CL both with lenses attached and 4 more lenses. Add the optional strap and it's incredibly comfortable. It looks more like a messenger bag, and less like a fishing tackle bag...which suits me. I know it's not for everyone, but perhaps a good option.

There are only two worth looking at: 1) Domke, and 2) Billingham w/ the extra protection. Everything else is a knock off of some sort or a cheap Chinese derivative.

That's a rather brash statement. Billinghams feel cheap compared to a Fogg or a Wotancraft. The main problem is that those bags are very thick and cube-like, like old-style camera bags, and don't drape around your body like a wider but thinner messenger bag would (well, some Domkes will). The end result is something unsuitable for walking around the city.

That's the same problem for the nice Loewe bags line: Too old-style case cubes. This week I spent more than an hour in a well sorted store trying different brands with my normal equipment (including a 15" laptop, bulky because of extended battery pack). The two last contenders were Crumpler and Tenba messenger style bags. Without the laptop (which I don't need beside working days) they both drap nicely around the hip. Tenba did the run because of the additional top zipper for fast camera access.
