I'm on the hunt for a case for my R2a.
Not really interested in one of Luigi's as not comfortable with his his political views.
One of Zhou's looks nice.
What other nice cases are available? Leaning towards a leather half case but all options considered.
Recommendations with pics and/or links appreciated. :)

i currently have a mr. zhou case for the rd1...very nice, great price (bought it used)...i have had luigi's economy case and regular cases as well...they all do the same job equally well.

I have several Zhou cases for several different cameras and I'm very happy with them. I've also had a couple of leicatime cases. They are more expensive but are made to a higher standard of craftsmanship and materials, IMO. Great to have this choice.

While I agree that choice is good, I don't agree with craftsmanship of Luigi cases being better. This might not be a popular opinion here (after all "you get what you pay for ), but I have used Luigi cases, and after a year or so, they get loose, the felt comes off, etc. Zhou cases hold their form better, and cost 3 times less to begin with.

I've had a couple or few Zhou cases, M6, M8. The M6 was a bit tight, the M8 was perfect. Never owned a Luigi case. Curious, what are his "politics" ??

Take a look at JnK. I think they are heavily underrated outside of Asia. They are based in South Korea and the material quality, as well as craftsmanship, appears top of the market. A clear league beyond what I've seen from Luigi.

Stitches are all handsewn. Leather is uncorrected (not stamped or treated to cover up flaws) and veegetable-tanned. Edges are wax-sealed (an important detail missing on many cases). Fit is dead-on. When I slip my MP into the half-case they made for me, you can feel the suction, like when you put on a well-fitting shoe. Also, I like the artfulness of the designs; the cutaways are more thoughtfully and cleanly executed than others'.

The website is a little confusing, but no less so than Luigi's, and Sejun (the proprietor) communicates in perfect English through e-mail.

I did email them but no reply. Also no indication on their site of a Bessa case. Pity. They look lovely.

I have done business with Luigi in the past and go on his web site every now and then. I am not aware of any "politics" at all and although I do not know him personally and I do not at present own one of his cases, I do not take disparaging a vendor who supports our hobby/lust, etc. lightly. I request that the OP explain or take back his statement. As the saying goes, "A hundred compliments makes a good business, but one bad critic can make a no business."

I have used at least couple of Zhou cases (Hexar RF and Fuji X100) and 2-3 Luigi cases (R-D1 and Leica Mx) and found all of them very good. The main reason I keep going back to Luigi cases is that his are the only cases that I know of (for the cameras that I use) that have a well-defined grip built into them, something I find I need. Plus, of course, some of them are simply gorgeous ;)
