looking for a good J-9

I have a great J-9, but it went to several reputable Leica or FSU repair experts before Oleg got it adjusted. I don't know hte exact trick, but I believe the focal length was changed slightly--but I'm really not sure.

If you want a good one for Leica, buy one in good condition (mine is chrome and they may be better) and send it to Kim Coxon for adjustment or Brian Sweeney if he'll do it or beg Oleg to make an exception to his policy against working on lenses. Take it as given: it will need adjustment.

Yuri@Fedka is great, but only collimates for infinity - he does not change the focal length; which is necessary for most J9s, and not possible for many. Check what Dante wrote about the lens; my own trials did confirm this.

I just found one, on one of my shelves, and I am impressed with it so far on the M8, seems a bit odd to put one of these on the M8, but you guys chatting it up made me try it.

Have not closely examined the files, but from chimping it seems rather sharp, and the focus is on.

Came with some other gear, so I let it sit a few years, focus is a bit stiff, but am thinking I do not want to have someone take it apart for lube and take a chance on re-alignment?

Not perfect, but seems a nice user, and I finally found a use for an old Mamiya lens cap, what else can you ask for?

Another satisfied Fedka customer here, what I like most about Yuri is how much hes willing to help you to settle any issues with the camera.

Id buy from Fedka again as well , fast shipping and his descriptions seem pretty much right on, plus in the end his prices are relatively comparable to those on ebay after shipping anyway.

I recently got a '58 J9 off Ebay, and am pleasantly surprised - £50 well spent!
Dave.

Mine is a black version from 1986.

Some samples below (from a friend's wedding two weeks ago, on Ferrania Solaris 400 film). :)

My black Jupiter 9 is also a bit sideways as my -8, but not as much! Just a few degrees. But it has the aperture setting ring moved like 90 degress there is definately something wrong. I still have to get the first roll with it developed to see how terrible this is.

If it's more than a few degrees off, I'd have to say there is probably something wrong with it. Judge by looking at the results, but SIDEWAYS would have me howling at the seller. How can one get off a quick shot, searching all over for the notch?
