My M5s need red dots!
For those looking for a good mail-order lab in the US... I can recommend most enthusiastically a place in Parsons, KS, called Dwayne's Photo (for further information, click on their name).
Nope, I don't stand to make any money from them. Just hear my story:
As some may remember, I just came back from a trip to Costa Rica... and brought with an assortment of Kodachrome, Ektachrome and Fujichrome exposed rolls. The E6 rolls were easy: I took them to my local lab. But for the Kodachromes... I sent them to Dwayne's.
Now... here's the detail: in order to remember what I had shot, I numbered each film canister in the order I used it, and marked it according to the camera I exposed it with. When I packed my Kodachrome rolls and sent them away, I wasn't expecting the boxes marked in any way. In fact, I had planned on staying up, looking at each series of slides and comparing them with my roll list to determine which roll and photos was in each envelope.
Guess what? When I received my developed film, each roll was carefully marked with THE SAME NUMBER I had marked the canister. In other words, they took note of placing the slides from, say, roll marked "Leica 12" in an envelope marked "Leica 12."
Ain't that grand?
In the past, I used to send my Kodachrome to Happy D, and when they stopped processing K-14 film, I had to send it to Dwayne's.
Believe me, they're gonna get a lot of my business from now on.
Just thought you'd like to know there are places where people take your orders as seriously as you do.
Have a nice day!
